On October 22, 1885, sixteen churches with a total membership of 900 people met at the Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Collettsville, North Carolina to organize the Caldwell Baptist Association. Today, there are 74 congregations with over 27,000 members. The Association is composed of cooperating Southern Baptist congregations that have been approved for membership in the Association in accordance with the procedures described in the Association’s Bylaws. All of the member churches are located in or adjacent to Caldwell County.
The Caldwell Baptist Center (pictured above) located at 208 Nuway Circle in Lenoir, North Carolina serves as the headquarters for the Association. The building provides offices for the Association’s staff, serves as a meeting place, and as a resource center for churches. The building opened in 1970 as a cooperative effort of the member churches.
The Caldwell Baptist Association is one of 78 associations affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. It is one of approximately 1,100 Baptist associations in the United States affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. As a nonprofit corporation in the State of North Carolina, the Association is organized exclusively for religious, charitable, and educational purposes.
